Ortakent sits at the crossroads of the peninsula, which makes it the pragmatic base: Bodrum town, Bitez and the western bays are all a short drive. The beach at Yahşi runs two sandy kilometres and flies the Blue Flag.
The village itself stays green and low-rise among mandarin and olive groves, with Bodrum Golf Club on its edge and a weekly market of its own.
